Eye Clinic (Yashwantpur, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh)
A jointly organised free eye clinic by The Prem Rawat Foundation, Premsaagar Foundation and Raj Vidya Kender was held at village Yashwantpur, Post Malahanpur, District Gorakhpur, UP on 11 and 12 December 2016.
In all, eyes of 2231 people were examined in the clinic by experienced doctors and eye surgeons. As a result of examination of eyes, 1409 people were provided free spectacles of prescribed power and required medicines. 1763 eye drop units were distributed to people according to their optical need. Also 598 people were detected to be suffering from cataract in their eyes and they were advised to attend govt. hospitals for further treatment of their eyes.
Eye clinic was inaugurated by Mr. Ram Dulare Rajbhar, Minister of state for SC/ST of UP Government.
The clinic worked from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm on first day and 9:15 am to 5:00 pm on second day. Dr. Anita Shrivastava Khan and Dr. Ajay Shrivastava examined the eyes. They were assisted by 5 refractionists – Mr. Deepak, Miss Sabhnam, Mr. Akhlesh Kumar, Mr. Rajesh Kumar and Mr.Balmukumad Dubey.
The team of doctors and refractionists expressed their happiness and gratitude for getting opportunity of doing service to the poor and needy people of the villages.
Dr. Anita Srivastava Khan was overwhelmed to serve so many people in the clinic.
The clinic was visited by the needy people who converged from around a radius of about 10 kms from the venue, covering 15 villages. The attendees came from the villages were basically laborers, small farmers and old ladies.
The project was managed by Mr. Girija Prasad Jaishwal Supervised by Mr. Umashankar and Mr. Anil Kumar. 59 volunteers were engaged to help in the clinic tasks.
